Photos of Finished Speaker

This page has a whole bunch of photos of the finished speaker. It has taken over four years to get to this point and it has been a fun project.

This is the finished product. It stands 52 inches high and is 14 inches wide and 4 inches thick.

Closeup showing the flush mounting of the drivers. Focal drivers are about as hard to flush mount as any I know.

Luckily the Dynaudios are real easy to mount. They have a thin, sheet metal frame that just lays right up there on the front of the baffle. Everything about these drivers is different. They are very light in weight, have very small magnets that live entirely inside the very large voice coil. When I first received these in the mail I was quite shocked. I have since learned to love them. They are very easy to work with and they sound great. That's what really counts.

Rear view of the baffle before any padding or stuffing was installed

Here the 1/2 inch felt lining has been installed. This was an attempt to cut down some of the reflections and refractions that are bound to occur with this type of design.

I also put a little Acoustistuff in behind the drivers. I put in as little of this as I could. I may decide to leave it out later. Still testing.

Binding posts and midrange crossover.

Rear with grill removed.

Grill installed. Now this looks like it should be the front.
